Xavier Gilmore earns conference Player of the Week honors

CHICAGO, Illinois – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday their sixth installment of baseball weekly honors. The conference's weekly honors include the best player of the week as well as the best pitcher of the week. This week, Xavier Gilmore was named as the conference's Player of the Week after a standout week of performances.

Gilmore earns this honor after stunning performances at both Trinity Christian as well as at Indiana South Bend. Throughout four games of competition for Gilmore, he was able to accumulate 10 hits through 16 at bat appearances for a 0.625 batting average. Throughout his at bat performances, Gilmore picked up six RBIs for the V-Hawks and scored four runs of his own. His performance led the V-Hawks to a win over Indiana South Bend on Saturday.

This is the first time in Gilmore's career that he has been named the conference's Player of the Week, despite being a First Team All-Conference selection in the 2024-25 season. Currently, Xavier Gilmore ranks first in the conference with a 0.542 batting average on the season. He also ranks first in on base percentage with a 0.607 and is second in the conference with an 0.833 slugging percentage.

This is the first time since joining the conference that the V-Hawks have earned a Player of the Week honor. Since joining, the V-Hawks have earned a Pitcher of the Week honor twice, but never a Player of the Week.

The team currently sits at 2-5 in conference play, putting them in seventh place in the conference so far. Gilmore and the V-Hawks will return to the field this weekend as they compete against the Judson Eagles. Details will be available online and on social media regarding game times and locations.
