COLUMBIA, Missouri -- The V-Hawks headed south this weekend to compete in their first competitions of the 2026 season. The team played a double-header on Sunday followed by another double-header on Monday. Through the four games, the V-Hawks went 0-4, with their closest match being a 10-9 loss on Sunday.
HITTING
Through four games, the V-Hawks were led by Xavier Gilmore. Through 12 at bats, he picked up eight runs, three RBIs, and a single home run throughout the weekend. Xavier collected a 0.667 batting average, 0.733 on base percentage, and 1.000 slugging percentage. Esteban Sanchez also impressed from the plate. With 13 at bats, he added four hits and three RBIs. He hit at a 0.308 percentage, claimed a 0.400 OBP, and a 0.462 slugging. As a team, the V-Hawks batted a 0.260 with a 0.379 OBP and 0.356 slugging.
PITCHING
Anthony Sanchez pitched the most innings for the V-Hawks this weekend wtih 5.1 innings pitched and he threw six strikeouts. Luke Widerholt got on the pitch for three innings, and he only allowed one hit in his three. Overall, the V-Hawks struggled on the pitch, closing the weekend with a 13.32 ERA after four games, allowing 45 hits and 36 runs.
FIELDING
Ryder Mortensen led for the V-Hawks from a fielding standpoint. Mortensen picked up 21 put outs, the most of any V-Hawk this weekend. The shortstop went for an errorless weekend. Other V-Hawks that contributed significantly from a fielding standpoint included Esteban Sanchez and Dane Mediger.

The V-Hawks will be headed to Kansas City this weekend to face off against Grand View in a pair of double-headers. Their first game is a double-header on Friday, February 20th at 1PM, followed by a double-header on Saturday, February 21st at noon.
