LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team lost to Olivet Nazarene University 59-44 Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks fall to 3-8 (1-3 CCAC) while the Tigers improve to 4-6 (2-3 CCAC).
The V-Hawks began the game looking to establish a rhythm on offense, Landon Thousand bringing early energy on creating offensive opportunities off rebounds. Cole Crubel, capitalizing from three, was found to be under contest much of the first half, with Colin Adams contributing under the hoop with put backs. The V-Hawks though behind, would find a key shooter in Brayden Bradway with a pair of hot threes closing the gap.
Thousand coming out of the half would hit a series of threes and dishing out needed assists, Adams consistently driving to the basket and getting much needed boards would keep Crubel open from three. The V-Hawks would limit the Tiger's inside scoring with blocks coming from Kole Johnson.
Thousand led the V-Hawks with 12, Bradway with 11 and C. Crubel with eight. Caleb Corro led the Tigers with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 39.7% to 25.4 and outrebounded 38-37, though shot better from three with 36%.
The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, December 18, on the road at Trinity Christian.
