Adam’s Hot Shooting Not Enough

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team fell to Saint Xavier University 93-84 Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks fall to 3-10 (1-5 CCAC) while the Cougars improve to 10-4 (5-1 CCAC).

Colin Adams opened the V-Hawks play with 10 of the opening twelve points, backed up by a put back and three from Brayden Bradway. With a lot of game left Jack Voigt would make a layup before dishing an assist to Cole Crubel for three. Adams and C. Crubel supplying the next three buckets for the V-Hawks keeping a lead over the Cougars. C. Crubel drawing the foul shot down three free throws in a row, followed by Adams drawing an and one to end the half.

The V-Hawks looking to keep the lead would find Adams for the opening six. Kole Johnson after dishing an assist would dunk from Bradway. VU narrowly in the lead, Braden Crubel would find Bradway in the sweet spot for three. Bradway remaining on the floor would claim the steal for an Adam's layup. The Cougars taking over the lead with a seven point run would not put a stop to the V-Hawks as Carson Koepnick would drain the three, followed by finding Thousand for a couple of threes. With less than 30 seconds to go Adams and C. Crubel would make a last ditch effort with four remaining points.

Adams led the V-Hawks with 32, C. Crubel with 13 and Thousand with 11. Jordan Jackson led the Cougars with 26 points.

The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 44.4% to 44.1% and from three 30% to 26.9%, though were outrebounded 44-35.

The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, January 8, on the road at St. Ambrose.
