LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team lost the battle to #25 St Francis University Saturday afternoon 64-61. The V-Hawks sink to 7-16 (5-11 CCAC) while the Fighting Saints rise to 20-3 (14-2 CCAC).
Colin Adams quickly made the first shot of the game 15 seconds in before dunking followed by a jumper by Christian Rohde bringing the V-Hawks within four. The V-Hawks remaining at a deficit would find Cole Crubel with back to back shots before Treyton Fletcher would make a layup off a pass from Jacob Watson.
The second half beginning with a slower pace would find Adams and Rodhe claiming nine of the first 12. Rohde picking up momentum would score back to back layups followed by a dunk and a layup by Admas both dished from Landon Thousand. Another dunk by Adams passed from Thousand would bring the V-Hawks within one point, before Thousand would nail the three from Adams scoring the final shot of the game.
Adams led the V-Hawks with 20, and Rohde with 10. Aitor Anabitarte led the Fighting Saints with 21 points.
The V-Hawks were outshot by the Fighting Saints from the floor 51% t0 41.4%, though outshot from three33.3% to 26.7% and committed less turnovers 8-11.
The V-Hawks return to action Wednesday February 12 at home to host St. Ambrose.
