V-Hawks Fall to Tigers at Home

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks fell to the Tigers on Saturday, losing by eight points. The final score was 82-74 in favor of the Tigers. The V-Hawks came into the match as the CCAC preseason #11 and the Tigers were the CCAC preseason #1. Despite a hard-fought match, the V-Hawks came up just short. The Tigers improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in CCAC play. The V-Hawks fall to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in CCAC play. 

Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Landon Thousand's 15 points and Carson Koepnick's 13. Thousand added eight assists as well, while Koepnick picked up four. Defensivley, Colin Adams led the way with six rebounds as well as two steals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The V-Hawks went down early 8-4. 
  • An 8-0 run put the V-Hawks up 12-8 with threes from Kole Johnson and Carson Koepnick
  • The V-Hawks held their lead until the Tigers earned it back at 21-18. 
  • A Braden Crubel three brought the score back to 21-21. 
  • A small 5-0 run gave the V-Hawks the 26-21 edge. 
  • A late-half three pointer gave the V-Hawks a 36-33 lead going into halftime. 
  • Carson Koepnick scored three to open the second half. 
  • The V-Hawks held a solid lead at 48-45 on a layup from Jack Voigt
  • The Tigers took the lead back at 52-50. 
  • The V-Hawks fell to an 8-0 run from the Tigers. 
  • Scoring from Landon Thousand, Colin Adams, and Kole Johnson brought the game back within five. 
  • The Tigers went on another 8-0 run. 
  • The V-Hawks continued to fight, eventually falling 82-74.
