V-Hawks down Trolls with Ease, Pick up CCAC Victory

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks hosted the Trolls of Trinity Christian on Wednesday night for their first home competition in over a month. The V-Hawks showed out, amassing a nearly twenty point victory over the Trolls, finishing with the 83-65 win. The V-Hawks improve to 4-11 overall and 2-7 in CCAC play. The Trolls fall to 8-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference. 

Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Landon Thousand and Colin Adams. Thousand dropped in 21 points, going 5-7 from the three and 8-12 from the field overall and adding seven assists. Colin Adams added 17 points, going 7-15 from the field. Treyton Fletcher added 13 points to the effort as well, shooting a perfect 5-5 from the field (3-3 from the three). Defensively, Colin Adams led the team with eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Treyton Fletcher contributed six rebounds and two steals, while Jack Voigt added five rebounds and two steals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The V-Hawks jumped to a quick 9-0 lead
  • The V-Hawks held the lead at 19-12
  • A 7-0 run for Landon Thousand put the V-Hawks up 26-12 
  • Treyton Fletcher added five points and Kole Johnson picked up two
  • Another three from Landon Thousand gave the V-Hawks a 38-17 lead
  • The V-Hawks went up by 25 with two minutes in the half
  • Three from Carson Koepnick and two from Braden Crubel sealed the half 50-26 
  • Treyton Fletcher scored first in the second half
  • The V-Hawks went on a three minute scoring drought
  • Scoring from Colin Adams and Landon Thousand ended the drought
  • The V-Hawks steadily held a 65-39 lead 
  • Back-to-back threes from Jacob Watson and Jack Hennessy gave the V-Hawks a nearly 30 point lead
  • Late scoring from the Trolls closed the gap, but the V-Hawks came out victorious 83-65

UP NEXT

The V-Hawks will hit the road this weekend, travelling to Notre Dame, Indiana to face off against Holy Cross. The game is set for a 2pm tip-off. The team will return home next week on Wednesday, January 21st.
