V-Hawks fall short against St. Ambrose

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- In their 13th conference battle of the 2026 season, the V-Hawks faced off against the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose. The V-Hawks fell to the Bees in an 82-66 loss. Overall, the V-Hawks move to 6-13 and in CCAC play, the V-Hawks fall to 4-9. The Bees improve to 9-12 overall and 6-7 in conference competition. 

Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Carson Koepnick. Koepnick drained 11 points for the V-Hawks, going 4-7 from the field. Three other V-Hawks reached double-digit points as well. Colin Adams, Braden Crubel, and Jonah Ogunsanya all achieved 10 points in the V-Hawk's fight. Defensively, Colin Adams led with eight rebounds. Landon Thousand picked up five rebounds for the V-Hawks as well. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The V-Hawks scored first off of Treyton Fletcher
  • The V-Hawks took an early 11-7 lead
  • The Bees took the lead back at 12-11, but a Koepnick free throw tied the game
  • Another score by Koepnick down the road gave the V-Hawks a 19-17 lead
  • The two teams tied several times throughout the first half
  • The V-Hawks held a 32-30 lead with four minutes remaining in the first
  • A 14-0 run for St. Ambrose would give them the 44-32 lead
  • A three pointer from Braden Crubel cut the lead to 44-35 going into the half
  • Out of the half, the Bees went on a 6-0 run
  • Scoring from Colin Adams and Carson Koepnick cut the run short
  • The Bees continued outpacing the V-Hawks, going up by 20 points
  • Late scoring from Jack Hennessy and Caron Koepnick put the V-Hawks back within 15
  • Final scoring by Kole Johnson left the V-Hawks with an 82-66 loss

The V-Hawks will travel to University Park, Illinois this weekend to face off against the Governors State Jaguars. The competition is set for 5pm.
