V-Hawks Fall in Overtime Battle
PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The V-Hawks traveled to Illinois on Wednesday night to face off against the Trolls of Trinity Christian in another CCAC matchup. The V-Hawks fought hard and pushed the game into overtime, but they were unable to capture the victory, eventually falling to the Trolls 70-67. The V-Hawks fall to 6-15 overall and 4-11 in the CCAC.
Offensively, the V-Hawks were well spread, with five players in double-digit points. Colin Adams and Jack Voigt each added 12 points while Landon Thousand, Carson Koepnick, and Treyton Fletcher each scored 11 for the V-hawks. Colin Adams also added five assists to the tally. Defensively, Carson Koepnick and Colin Adams each added eight rebounds for the V-hawks. Adams and Fletcher each added two steals, and Treyton Fletcher added two blocks as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Treyton Fletcher scored first for the V-Hawks
- The V-Hawks took an early 8-5 lead
- Braden Crubel and Jack Voigt scoring extended the lead to 14-9
- The V-Hawks held the lead for the first 15 minutes until Trinity Christian took it at 28-26
- A three from Landon Thousand kept the V-Hawks within fighting distance
- The V-Hawks went into the half down 37-32
- Out of the half, Treyton Fletcher put up five quick points
- The V-Hawks went down by as many as ten points in the second half
- The V-Hawks fought back within two points with six minutes remaining
- Landon Thousand tied the game at 62-62 with a minute and a half left
- The Trolls took the lead at 62-64
- Jacob Watson scored two free throws to tie the game and send it to overtime at 64-64
- The Trolls scored first in OT to take the 66-64 lead
- A three from Carson Koepnick gave the V-Hawks a 67-66 lead
- The V-Hawks struggled to score, and the Trolls took the 70-67 victory
