V-Hawks struggle against the Eagles

ELGIN, Ill. -- The V-Hawks headed east to face off against the Judson Eagles on Wednesday night. The V-Hawks and the Eagles had previously met early in the year in which the V-Hawks took home the victory. This time, Judson was able to pull away with the victory. With the loss, the V-Hawks fall to 6-17 overall and 4-13 in conference play. The Eagles improve to 5-20 overall and 2-15 in the CCAC.

Offensively, the V-hawks were led by Colin Adams. Adams put up an impressive 23 point performance, going 10-19 from the field, and shooting 1-2 from the three. Also impressing on the offense was Carson Koepnick. Carson put up 17 points, shooting 5-10 from the field and 3-8 from three. Defensively, it was all about Colin Adams. Adams put up 18 rebounds, a career-high for the senior out of La Crosse. He also grabbed a steal for the defensive side of the ball. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Koepnick scored first for the V-Hawks on a three
  • The V-Hawks kept it close, tying the game at 10-10 on a Jack Hennessy three
  • A Braden Crubel three gave the V-Hawks a 13-10 lead
  • The Eagles went on a series of small runs, but the V-Hawks continued responding
  • The V-Hawks remained within five with four minutes left in the half
  • Landon Thousand scored the final points for the V-Hawks in the first half
  • Going into halftime, the V-Hawks were down 42-36
  • Out of the half, the V-Hawks went down ten points despite offensive efforts from Treyton Fletcher
  • The Eagles went on a 9-0 run with three made threes
  • The V-Hawks went down by 20 points with 14 minutes remaining
  • A three from Jonah Ogunsanya cut the lead down
  • The V-Hawks continued to fight, pulling back within 11 points
  • A three from Landon Thousand put the V-Hawks within nine points late in the game
  • Colin Adams scored last for the V-Hawks on a three, and they lost to the Eagles 84-75

The V-Hawks will return home this weekend to face off against Indiana South Bend. The game is set for Saturday, February 14 at 2PM.
