V-Hawks Struggle Offensively, Fall to St. Francis
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks returned to La Crosse on Wednesday night to face off against the Fighting Saints of St. Francis. In the matchup against top-ranked CCAC foe, the V-Hawks held tight with the Saints through the first half, falling behind in the second. With the loss, the V-Hawks drop to 6-19 this year with a 4-15 CCAC record. The Fighting Saints improve to 19-7 and 14-5 in the conference.
Offensively, both teams struggled in the first half. The V-Hawks only put up 17 points in the first 20 minutes, while the Fighting Saints added 20 points. In the second half, both teams improved their shooting. The V-Hawks were led by Carson Koepnick's 12 points on 5-8 shooting from the field. Colin Adams added 10 points for the V-Hawks. Defensively, Colin Adams led with eight rebounds and a block, while Landon Thousand put up seven rebounds for the V-Hawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks went down 6-0 early
- Their first points came from Carson Koepnick
- The V-Hawks got back within two at 12-10 with a Jacob Watson free throw
- Neither team scored again for nearly three minutes
- Scoring from Treyton Fletcher and Colin Adams gave the V-Hawks a 13-12 lead
- The V-Hawks held a 17-13 lead with two minutes in the half
- The Saints stole the lead back, and the V-Hawks were down 20-17 at the half
- Out of the half, the V-Hawks struggled to respond to a St. Francis 8-0 run
- The V-Hawks continued fighting, getting within six points at 39-33
- The Saints continued outlasting the V-Hawks, despite scoring efforts
- Late scoring from Colin Adams and Landon Thousand wasn't enough
- The V-Hawks fell to the Saints 60-49

The V-Hawks will host their final game of the 2025-26 season this Saturday here in La Crosse. They will be competing against the Crimson Wave of Calumet at 3PM. The seniors will be celebrated before the game.
