V-Hawks compete in first spring meet of the season

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The V-Hawks traveled south this weekend to Prairie Links Golf Course to compete in the Wartburg Spring Invite. The competition featured several teams, and through a two-day, 36-hole competition, the V-Hawks finished T-9th. The V-Hawk 'B' squad finished in 13th.

Throughout the competition, the team was led by JJ Kaczynski. JJ finished in T-27th. Kaczynski finished day one with a 79, improving to a 73 on the second day. Steffen Larson of the 'B' squad led for their group with a 77 on the first day and a 76 on the second.

As a team, the V-Hawks scored a 623, coming in under 20 stroked behind 8th place. On the first day of competition, the team shot a 324. On the second day, the team improved substantially, shooting under 300 with a 299 to finish the round. The 'B' squad shot a 314 on the first day and took a 320 on the second day for a final score of 634.

The V-Hawks will return to the course tomorrow to face off at the Redtail Spring Invite. The meet will take place in Waterloo, Iowa.
