JJ Kaczynski is a Conference Champion, Team with 3rd Place Finish

SILVIS, Ill. -- The V-Hawks returned to the course this past weekend to compete in the CCAC Championships, hosted at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. The event was a two-day competition. On day one, the teams played 36 holes of competition, and on day two, the competitors finished with a final round of 18. As a team, the V-Hawks finished in third place, falling to St. Ambrose and Olivet Nazarene. The biggest story of the day was JJ Kaczynski's individual conference championship.

Through the first day of competition, the V-Hawks were sitting in third place, shooting 69 over in the first two rounds of competition. They were two strokes ahead of Judson and 18 strokes off of Olivet Nazarene. Their day was highlighted by a strong +27 performance in the first round. In the second round, the team struggled, shooting a +42 to close out day one. After day one, JJ Kaczynski was leading for the V-Hawks, sitting in second place, one stroke off of first place. He shot a 73 in the first round and a 75 in the second round. Aaron Mork was close behind, sitting at T9 with a 77 and a 78 on the day.

On the second day of competition, the V-Hawks had their best round of the competition as a team, shoowing +25, the second best round of the day. They finished in third place, 12 strokes off of second and 12 strokes ahead of fourth. Individually, JJ Kaczynski was able to turn the jets on to claim the individual conference championship. He ended the weekend with a total score of 224 (+14), winning the championship by one stroke. Ethan Thomas had an unbelievable round on the final day of competition to claim a third place finish and make the All-Tournament team as well. Thomas shot a 68 in his final round, improving by 11 strokes from the day before.

With his conference championship, JJ Kaczynski makes history for the V-Hawks. The V-Hawks have never had a men's golf individual champion before, and they have never sent a men's golfer to the national stage before. JJ's championship guarantees him a spot in the field of golfers at the NAIA National Championships.

JJ will compete at the National Championships on May 12-15 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois again.
