Men's Soccer Releases 2024 Schedule
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team has officially released its 2024 Schedule. The V-Hawks, led by second-year Head Coach Roberto Yepez, will look to build on their 7-6-6 (4-4-3 CCAC) 2023 campaign.
Viterbo begins the season with a scrimmage on August 8 at Hawkeye Community College (Iowa), then hosts the Viterbo Soccer Alumni Game on August 10. Their season opener at Morningside University (Iowa) lands on Monday, August 19. Following a home scrimmage against UW-River Falls on the 22nd, the V-Hawks end August with a match at Clarke University (Iowa) on the 27th.
Nicolas Lopez, Viterbo's leading goal-scorer and CCAC First-Team Selection in 2023, leads the V-Hawks into September with a match at Carleton College (Minn.) on the 3rd. VU's first home match of the season comes on the 11th as they host Waldorf University (Iowa), followed by a home bout against Franklin College (Ind.). On the 21st, Viterbo travels to Madison, Wis. for a matchup with NCAA Division I UW-Madison. They then end the month with their CCAC conference opener at Saint Xavier (Ill.) on the 24th.
The V-Hawks, and two-time all-conference goalkeeper Ernesto Ascenzo, start October traveling to Trinity Christian (Ill.) on the 2nd, then welcome Holy Cross (Ind). on the 5th. On the 8th, VU travels to Calumet College of St. Joseph's (Ind.), then to Judson University (Ill.) on the 12th. Viterbo returns home on the 16th for a face-off against Governors State (Ill.) before a two-game road stand against Indiana Northwest on the 19th and Bellevue (Neb.) on the 22nd. The final home match of October is against St. Francis (Ill.) on the 26th, while the final road game of the season is at St. Ambrose is on the 30th. The regular season finale against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) is in La Crosse on November 2nd.
The top eight teams in the conference standings make the conference tournament, with the higher seed hosting each game. The quarterfinals are on November 8th, the semifinals on the 12th, and the Conference Tournament Championship game on the 15th.
