Alvaro Paquete Oliveira Earns His First CCAC Weekly Honors
CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced their weekly honors for men's soccer, and Alvaro Paquete Oliveira was named the Offensive Player of the Week. This is the first time that the freshman out of Esmoriz, Portugal has earned this award.
This honor comes after the impact Alvaro had on the team last week. In their victory over Trinity Christian, Alvaro scored the game-winning goal to put the V-Hawks at the 10-win mark for the first time in three years. Additionally, the win brought the V-Hawks up to second place in the conference standings, garnering a higher seed for the conference tournament that begins this week.
This season, Alvaro has totaled two goals and six assists for ten points. The midfielder has played 17 games for the V-Hawks, starting in 15 games during his freshman campaign so far. He has been a key contributor towards the V-Hawks impressive 10-5-2 season, and he will continue to be a key piece of the V-Hawk offense into the postseason competition.
Alvaro and the V-Hawks return to competition this week, hosting the CCAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday, November 5th. The V-Hawks will be hosting Governors State, and kickoff is set for 1pm. The winner of the match will compete again on Saturday, November 8th in the CCAC Semifinals. The CCAC Championship match is set for November 12th.
