V-Hawks Drop Two on the Road, Amdur with 2000th Career Assist

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- The V-Hawks traveled to Marian University this weekend to compete against Marian and Edgewood in a Saturday tournament. The V-Hawks fell to Edgewood in their first match of the day 3-1. In the evening, the V-Hawks fell to Marian 3-1 as well. The team moves to 0-4 overall this season and will compete in their first home match on Wednesday. 

Against Edgewood, the V-Hawks were led offensively by Logan Amdur. Amdur added a triple double with 10 kills, 11 assists, and 13 digs. He swung at a 0.269 clip. Ethan Davis added nine kills while Styrk Myhre added six. Roman Rzeszutko added 15 assists for the V-Hawks to lead at the set. He put together a double-double with 10 digs as well. Defensively, Logan Amdur led the back court with 13 digs while Styrk Myhre led in blocks with six. 

Against Marian, Logan Amdur led the offense once again. Amdur put up 11 kills and 17 assists for a double-double. In the game, Amdur notched his 2,000th career assist. Riley Connors added nine kills and Ethan Davis added eight. Defensively, Max Dugan led the back court with eight digs while Owen Collitt, Caleb Koza, and Logan Amdur each added four blocks. 

HOW IT HAPPENED (vs Edgewood)

• The V-Hawks went down early in set one. A kill by Styrk Myhre put the V-Hawks within two points, but Edgewood responded with a 6-1 run. The V-Hawks responded with a run of their own with two aces from Roman Rzeszutko. The teams continued to go back and forth before Edgewood pulled away late in the game to win set one 27-25. 
• The V-Hawks opened set two with four straight points and a Daxton Marschall ace. The V-Hawks held the 14-8 edge on a kill from Logan Amdur, assisted by Max Dugan. A 6-0 run from Edgewood tied the set. The V-Hawks fought to flip the score back, but Edgewood continued to outlast the V-Hawks. The V-Hawks fell in set two 25-23.
• In set three, the V-Hawks took a quick 5-2 lead with kills from Amdur and Myhre. The V-Hawks held their lead until Edgewood went on a 9-3 run. The V-Hawks responded with a 5-0 run of their own with kills from Logan Amdur and Riley Connors. The V-Hawks continued to hold the lead and took the third set win 25-22. 
• Set four started close with several ties before Edgewood went on a 4-0 run. The V-Hawks fought back, but remained down by several points into the late set. A three point run with a kill from Riley Connors and an ace from Daxton Marschall put the V-Hawks within four, but Edgewood pulled away and took the fourth set victory 25-20. 

HOW IT HAPPENED (vs Marian)

• Logan Amdur scored first for the V-Hawks with a kill. The team remained at a tie until Marian pulled away with a 4-0 run. A kill by Ethan Davis cut the run. The V-Hawks strung together three straight points with a kill from Riley Connors and a block from Logan Amdur. The V-Hawks continued to fight, but Marian took the first set 25-19. 
• The V-Hawks scored the first three points of set two. A kill from Ethan Davis gave the V-Hawks an early 5-1 lead. The V-Hawks expanded their lead at 16-11 with a block from Styrk Myhre. Marian fought back in, but the V-Hawks responded with a 3-0 run to take a late 20-17 lead. The V-Hawks went on to win the second set with a kill from Styrk Myhre 25-23. 
• The V-Hawks went down early in set three but fought back within one at 10-9. The V-Hawks continued to struggle as Marian went on several short runs to put the V-Hawks down 20-14 late in the third. A kill by Riley Connors put the V-Hawks back within four, but Marian pulled away with a 25-20 victory. 
• In set four, the V-Hawks took an early 5-3 lead on a block from Logan Amdur. The V-Hawks strung together a mid-set 6-1 run with kills from Ethan Davis, Logan Amdur, and Styrk Myhre. An Ethan Davis ace gave the V-Hawks an 18-17 lead. Marian responded with a run of their own and took the lead at 22-19. The V-Hawks scored three straight to tie the set at 22-22. A kill by Styrk Myhre tied the game at 25-25, but Marian put together the last two points to win 27-25.
