V-Hawks Fall to No. 11 OUAZ
SURPRISE, Arizona -- The V-Hawks second game of their Arizona trip was a matchup against number 11 ranked OUAZ out of Surprise, Arizona. The V-Hawks took to the court, eventually falling in straight sets to OUAZ. With the loss, the V-Hawks drop to 4-15 overall for the season. OUAZ improves to 8-3 on the year.
Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Logan Amdur. Amdur added eight kills to the V-Hawk tally on a 0.250 hitting percentage. Amdur also led from the set with nine assists, while Roman Rzesutko picked up eight assists. In the back court, Daxton Marschall and Max Dugan each picked up four digs, and in the front court, Riley Connors and Ethan Davis each added a block
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks went down early in set one, dropping the first five points. The first point for the V-Hawks came on a kill from Caleb Koza. The V-Hawks remained within four points at 10-6, and kept their margin at 19-15. OUAZ went on to close out the set on a 6-0 run, despite late scoring from Logan Amdur. The V-Hawks fell in set one 25-15.
- In the second set, OUAZ scored the first six points. The V-Hawks had some early scoring with two kills from Riley Connors, but they continued to slip into a deficit after an OUAZ 7-1 run. The V-Hawks soon found themselves down 16-4, but a kill from Logan Amdur slowed down OUAZ. Four straight points for the V-Hawks brought some fight to the team, marked by two aces from Ethan Davis. OUAZ responded with a 6-0 run. One final kill from Logan Amdur fought to keep the V-Hawks alive, but they eventually fell 25-10 in the second.
- The third set started the same as the past two with OUAZ going on a 5-0 run early. A Brody Dunlap kill slowed down OUAZ. The V-Hawks fought to get within five points at 14-9 on another kill from Brody Dunlap. More scoring from Logan Amdur and Styrk Myhre kept the V-Hawks within five, but OUAZ pulled away, going on a 5-0 run to close the set 25-13.
