V-Hawks Split Triangular Competition, Pick up CCAC Win
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks took on Judson and UW-Stevens Point this past weekend in La Crosse. Throughout the competition, the V-Hawks came out with a 1-1 split on the day. The V-Hawks defeated the Eagles and fell to the Pointers. The V-Hawks are now 7-18 overall on the season and 4-4 in conference play. With four wins, the V-Hawks reach their most wins in conference play since 2023.
Against Judson, the V-Hawks stacked up the box score. Offensively, Logan Amdur led with a new career-high 15 kills alongside 17 assists. He reached a triple-double with 14 digs as well. Ethan Davis added 10 kills, while Styrk Myhre added eight on a 0.462 percentage. From the set, Roman Rzeszutko led with 27 assists, claiming a double-double with 12 assists. In the back court, Logan Amdur also led the way with 14 digs. Defensively, Styrk Myhre had a career game with 10 blocks on the day.
Against UW-Stevens Point, The V-Hawks were led offensively by Caleb Koza and Logan Amdur with three kills each. From the set, Roman Rzeszutko led with 10 assists on the game. In the back court, Max Dugan led with eight digs, and Malachi Krestel picked up four as well for the V-Hawks. Max Dugan also added two aces to the V-Hawk efforts.
HOW IT HAPPENED v JUDSON
- In the first set, the V-Hawks scored first on a kill from Styrk Myhre. The V-Hawks went down 7-5 early, but down the stretch they went on a 4-0 run with three kills in a row from Logan Amdur to take the 12-9 lead. Judson responded with a 6-2 run of their own, but the V-Hawks gained momentum back on a 4-0 run with kills from Owen Collitt and Caleb Koza as well as two blocks in a row from Riley Connors and Styrk Myhre. The V-Hawks raced to the end, finishing on kills from Ethan Davis and Styrk Myhre to take set one 25-20.
- In set two, the V-Hawks opened with scoring from Styrk Myhre. The V-Hawks fell to a 9-5 deficit early on, but they fought their way back within one point at 16-15. The Eagles continued to fight off the V-Hawks, going up 19-16 in the second. Three points in a row for the V-Hawks put them at a 20-20 tie and forced the Judson timeout. The Eagles went up 24-22 out of the timeout. The V-Hawks fought back to 24-24, but the Eagles eventually took the set 26-24.
- In set three, the V-Hawks scored the first two points. The team took the early 10-6 lead to force an early timeout from the Eagles. Out of the timeout, the V-Hawks struggled to keep the Eagles down, and Judson got back within one point at 15-14. The V-Hawks responded with a massive 8-1 run, marked by four blocks from Logan Amdur, Styrk Myhre, and Riley Connors. The V-Hawks pushed to the finish line and won set three on an Owen Collitt kill 25-17.
- In the fourth, the V-Hawks scored first again with a block from Logan Amdur and Styrk Myhre. Judson took the 8-6 lead early, but the V-Hawks picked up four points in a row with a Max Dugan ace to take the 10-8 lead. The two teams fought back and forth throughout most of the set, tying nine times between 11-11 and 20-20. Late in the set, the Eagles took a 22-21 lead, but the V-Hawks flipped it in their favor at 23-22. The Eagles fought the set into extra points at 24-24, but the V-Hawks ran away with a block from Riley Connors and Owen Collitt to win the fourth set 26-24.
HOW IT HAPPENED v UWSP
- The V-Hawks scored the first point of the game on a kill from Ethan Davis. They captured the early 5-4 lead on a kill from Logan Amdur, but the Pointers responded with a 6-0 run to put the V-Hawks down 10-5. A kill from Caleb Koza followed by one from Logan Amdur kept the V-Hawks in the game at 17-12. The Pointers went on a 5-0 run to take the 22-12 lead. A kill from Justin Kratzenstein fought to keep the V-Hawks in the game, but they fell in set one 25-15.
- In set two, the V-hawks took the early 4-0 lead with two aces from Max Dugan and kills from Riley Connors and Noah Diedrich. The V-Hawks held their lead with an ace from Daxton Marschall and a kill from Justin Kratzenstein to take the 8-7 lead. A 4-0 run from UWSP put the V-Hawks down 11-9. The V-Hawks continued fighting, but UWSP went on a series of small runs and went up 24-14 late in the set. Ben Sendelbach picked up an ace and Caleb Koza added a kill in an attempt to fight back, but the V-Hawks fell in set two 25-17.
- In set three, the V-Hawks struggled early, going down 11-4. A service ace from Leo Kangas fought to keep the V-Hawks in the game, and a block from Ethan Davis and Styrk Myhre put the V-Hawks within five at 14-9. The team kept their five point deficit, but UWSP expanded their lead at 21-14. The V-Hawks eventually fell in set three 25-15.

The V-Hawks will return to the court on Thursday, March 26th. They will face off against the Trolls of Trinity Christian here in La Crosse at 6pm.
