Softball goes 1-1 with Bellevue on Friday

The Viterbo Softball team (4-16, 4-2 NSAA) split Friday's doubleheaders against Bellevue. The V-Hawks defeated the Bruins in game two to improve to 4-2 in conference play.

Game 1 – Viterbo 1, Bellevue 3

· Both teams went scoreless through the fourth inning. Viterbo got the first hit coming in the bottom of the 3rd inning, but couldn't capitalize leaving two runners left on base.

· Bellevue was able to get their offense going in the 5th inning getting one run on three hits.

· The V-Hawks were able to tie the game up in the bottom of the 6th inning with an RBI coming from Kendyl Schine (SR/Kenosha, Wis.).

· In extra innings the Bruins got hot, scoring two runs on four hits. Viterbo answered back with two hits of their own, but couldn't capitalize leaving two runners on base.

· Bellevue took the first game 3-1 in eight innings.

Game 2 – Viterbo 3, Bellevue 1

· Autumn Olson (JR/Chippewa Falls, Wis.) got walked to start the V-Hawks at-bat in game 2. Olson was able to advance and score giving the V-Hawks a 1-0 lead after the 1st.

· Viterbo kept the bats going in the 3rd inning with Autumn Olson singling to left field. A single to right field from Karissa Walsh (SO/Monee, Ill.) was able to score Olson and advance Channing Manske (JR/Black River Falls, Wis.) to third.

· Morgan James (SO/Mineral Point, Wis.) doubled to center field while scoring Manske. Viterbo was up 3-0 at the end of the 3rd inning.

· Bellevue earned a run in the top of the 5th inning, but couldn't gain enough momentum.

· Viterbo took the second game 3-1.

The Viterbo University Softball team will remain home tomorrow, April 3rd, for a doubleheader against Bellevue. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
