Marissa Carter-Olson Named CCAC Player of the Week

CHICAGO, Ill. – On Tuesday morning the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced their weekly athletic honors. Each week, the conference selects the best players from each of their sports, and this week, senior Marissa Carter-Olson was named as the CCAC's Softball Player of the Week.

Marissa Carter-Olson earns this award for the first time in her career after an outstanding week of competition with two games against Waldorf last week. In the two games, Marissa Carter-Olson put up a perfect performance with a 1.000 batting average. She earned her batting average after having six hits on six appearances. One of her hits resulted in a double for the V-Hawks.

Throughout her six appearances at the plate, Marissa Carter-Olson also was a scoring machine for the V-Hawks. She was able to earn five RBIs in her six appearances. Additionally, she was ran in four times from her on-base appearances, resulting in nine total runs that involved Marissa Carter-Olson throughout the games. 

From the field, the catcher collected three putouts during the two games. She had two in the first game and one in the second. She had an errorless performance throughout the two games, resulting in a 1.000 fielding percentage, showing that she is a threat on either side of the ball.

With Carter-Olson's assistance, the V-Hawks picked up a pair of dominant wins last week over the Waldorf Warriors. In their first game, the V-Hawks picked up an 18-3 victory, and in their second game, the V-Hawks picked up a 21-4 victory. In their second game, the V-Hawks scored their most runs as a team since 2007.

After an extremely strong week, Marissa Carter-Olson becomes the first V-Hawk to earn a Player of the Week award since April 17, 2023. She also becomes the first V-Hawk to earn a Player of the Week award since the V-Hawks joined the CCAC last season.  

Marissa Carter-Olson and the V-Hawks will return to competition today, April 7, and tomorrow, April 8. They will be traveling to Whiting, Indiana to face off against the Crimson Wave of Calumet. Today's competition will begin at 4PM (CDT) and tomorrow's double-header will begin at 12PM (CDT). All games will be available on the Viterbo Athletics website.
