Kira John Earns Her First Weekly Conference Honors
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced their weekly honors on Tuesday, December 9th. Kira John was one of the selected weekly recipients, earning Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Kira John earns this award after an impressive week of competition. With her assistance, the V-Hawks picked up two wins last week. In their game against (RV) Governors State, John picked up eight rebounds and a career-high four blocks. John also added a steal and did it all without any turnovers or fouls. Offensively, John also put up a career-high 18 points, going 7-14 from the field.
In the match against UW-Superior, Kira John added eight more rebounds and a pair of blocks. John also picked up a steal and offensively added six points and a pair of assists to the mix. John went 3-3 from the field against UW-Superior.
Across the two games, Kira John averaged eight rebounds per game, three blocks per game, one steal per game, and 12 points per game to cap off a well-rounded week of performance for the sophomore.
In the conference, John sits at 6th in blocks per game (1.1). On the season, John is averaging 5.5 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, 1.0 steals per game, and 1.1 blocks per game.
Kira John and the V-Hawks defeated (RV) Governors State and UW-Superior last week. Their win over (RV) Governors State was the first time that the V-Hawks have defeated the Jaguars in program history. Their victory also marked the first time that the V-Hawks have defeated a team either ranked or receiving votes since February of 2020.
Kira John and the V-Hawks will return to action on Saturday. They will hit the road to face off against the Holy Cross Saints with a tip off set for noon. The V-Hawks will return home in 2026 when they face off against the Indiana South Bend Titans on Wednesday, January 7 at 5:30pm.
