V-Hawks struggle on the Road
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The V-Hawks took on Olivet Nazarene in another conference competition on Wednesday night. The team headed to the Tigers house and came away with a 103-63 loss. The V-Hawks fall to 9-11 overall and 7-6 in conference competition. The Tigers improve to 16-5 overall and move to 12-1 in the CCAC.
Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Shayna Williamson. Williamson put up 12 points for the V-Hawks, going 5-8 from the field. Lauryn Goettl and Cece Davis each added 10 points to the count as well with Goettl going 4-8 from the field and Davis going 2-4 from the three. Defensively, Lauryn Goettl led the V-Hawks with eight rebounds, two steals, and a block. Pearla Teko-Folly picked up two blocks for the V-Hawks, and Nora Tucker and Kira John each added six rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks started out hot, going up 4-0
- The Tigers responded with a 7-0 run
- The V-hawks were down two at 13-11
- Two from Goettl and two from Shayna Williamson tied the game at 15-15
- Another score from Williamson gave the V-Hawks a slight edge
- The Tigers responded, taking a 21-18 lead after the first
- The V-Hawks did not score for the first 5:30 of the second quarter
- A layup from Kira John put the V-Hawks down 36-20
- The V-Hawks went on another scoring drought, cut off by Marley Hughes
- The V-Hawks went into halftime down 55-27
- Out of the half, Pearla Teko-Folly scored the first points
- The V-Hawks continued to struggle offensively
- Scoring from Kira John and Nora Tucker brought back some offensive production to the V-Hawk side
- The V-Hawks went into the fourth quarter down 83-46
- A three from Nora Tucker opened scoring in the fourth for the V-Hawks
- The V-Hawks continued to fight, but the Tigers were too much
- The V-Hawks fell 103-63
