Pearla Teko-Folly Tabbed as Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday their weekly honors for women's basketball. Each week, the conference's best offensive and defensive players are recognized for their impact. This week, the CCAC selected junior Pearla Teko-Folly as the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Teko-Folly earns this award for the first time in her career after a pair of victories for the V-Hawks. In the win against Judson, Pearla earned seven rebounds and a pair of blocks. She also picked up two steals for the V-Hawks in her 15 minutes of play.

In the crucial win over St. Ambrose, Pearla was able to grab nine rebounds, a steal, and an impressive four blocks. She was able to do all of this without a turnover and within nineteen minutes of playing time.

Past her impressive defense, Pearla contributed 20 points between the two games with a career-high 17 points over St. Ambrose. In her 17-point performance, Teko-Folly shot at 80% from the field, the highest she's shot all season.

Additionally, Teko-Folly is raising the bar in the conference. She currently sits in second place in the conference for total blocks with 32 this season and tenth overall for rebounds per game with an average of 7.1/game this season.

The defensive work by Teko-Folly assisted the V-Hawks in winning both of their games last week. They defeated both Judson and St. Ambrose by over 10 points, thrusting the team into a 10-6 conference record. Ten conference wins are the most for the V-Hawks since the 2004-05 season. The V-Hawk women's basketball program has only had 10 conference wins four times in program history before this season.
