V-Hawks open spring season with a Third Place Finish
WATERLOO, Iowa -- The V-Hawk Women's Golf team took to the course on Monday to compete in their first spring competition of the 2026 season. The V-Hawks came away from the single-day 18-hole competition in third place, their highest place finish since last year. Throughout the competition, several V-Hawks impressed with their performances.
The V-Hawks were led on the day with a 90-stroke performance from Lillia Rather. Lillia hit par on five of her holes to achieve this score, just one away from that under-90 threshold. Right behind Lillia was Rachel Boe. Boe finished with a 91 through 18-holes, earning a birdie on the fifth hole and picking up four pars along the way. Next up was Mattie Albright. Albright earned a score of 92 after the competition, shooting three pars throughout the day. Elise Tomashek rounded it out for the V-Hawks, scoring a 107 an dpicking up three pars on the day.
In total, the V-Hawks finished their competition with a team score of 380, defeating their next closest opponent by nearly 30 strokes.
