DAVENPORT, Iowa – The #8 Viterbo University's Women's Soccer team fall 1-0 in the CCAC quarterfinal Wednesday night to #1 St. Ambrose. The V-Hawks season ends with a record of 8-9-1 (CCAC 5-5-1) while the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees rise to 12-5-2 (CCAC 9-2) and advance to the CCAC semi-final Saturday.
As the game kicked off St. Ambrose would strike quick as Kendall Wendt would find the back of the net less than a minute into the game. The V-Hawks would look to fight back as Rachel Kinney would land a shot on goal in the 14th minute. It would not be until the 36th minute when the V-Hawks would have another chance, Maya Bubbers would line up a shot resulting in a save. The last chance for VU in the first half would come at the 37th minute when Kelcie Karweick would land a header shot wide.
Kicking off the second half the V-Hawks would continue to fight. Brooke Clements would land a shot wide of goal 10 minutes into the second half. Keeping the V-Hawks in the game Veerle Vriens would record three saves throughout the second half. The V-Hawks would fall short 1-0 as their season comes to an end on the road.
