V-Hawks fall in Conference Matchup

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks fell in their Saturday conference matchup this weekend against Holy Cross. Their 2-1 loss came in the last minute when Holy Cross scored. Casey Hill was the lone scorer of the day for the V-Hawks, assisted by Ellie Hedges. 

Despite the loss, the V-Hawks took the same amount of shots as Holy Cross, with 10 a piece. Each team also took two corner kicks each. Defensively, the V-Hawks picked up three saves, while the Saints only picked up five. 

The V-Hawks scored first at 41 minutes when Casey Hill was fed the ball from Ellie Hedges. The V-Hawks held the 1-0 lead going into the second half. At 61 minutes, the Saints responded with an unassisted goal. The teams remained in a tie until 83 minutes when the Saints scored the game-winning goal. 

The V-Hawks fall to 5-3 (4-2 CCAC) and the Saints improve to 4-5-1 (3-1-1 CCAC).

The V-Hawks will travel to Illinois to face off against Olivet Nazarene in their next CCAC competition on Tuesday, October 7. Kickoff is set for 5PM.
