Winker Named National Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA has officially released their third edition of the National Women's Volleyball Players of the Week, and Viterbo Outside Hitter Kenzie Winker has been selected as the National Attacker of the Week.

"Kenz had an unbelievable weekend against 2 top 10 teams in the country, this is a well-deserved recognition.  Kenzie's success was a big reason we were able to get 3 big wins this past weekend. "

Winker recorded a total of 57 kills on the weekend (4.75 kills/set), as the V-Hawks went 3-0, including wins over the #10 and #11 ranked teams. She recorded back-to-back double doubles against William Penn (Iowa) (21 kills, 10 digs) and #10 Montana Tech (15 kills, 10 digs). In the match against #11 Columbia College, Winker posted 21 kills and only two errors on 35 attempts for an attack percentage of 0.543. 21 is tied for the third highest amount of kills in a three-set match in school history.

Winker is the first V-Hawk to earn a National Player of the Week Award since Miah Garant was named Defender of the Week in 2021, and the first Attacker of the Week since Natalie Geidel in 2015.

Winker and the V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 13 as they host Waldorf University in their NSAA home conference opener.
