V-Hawks Claim Second Straight CCAC Victory
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The V-Hawks made their way east to face off against the Saints of Holy Cross on Saturday, January 17. The V-Hawks came out victorious after the full game, defeating the Saints 64-53. The V-Hawks improve to 5-11 overall and 3-7 in CCAC competition. The Saints fall to 7-11 overall and 2-8 in CCAC play.
The V-Hawks were led offensively by Carson Koepnick. Koepnick scored 15 points on the game, and he added one assist. Braden Crubel added 13 points to the column, while Colin Adams and Landon Thousand each added ten points. Thousand picked up six assists as well. Defensively, Colin Adams led the V-Hawks with eight rebounds and two blocks. Braden Crubel and Jacob Watson each grabbed seven rebounds, and Landon Thousand got six.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carson Koepnick scored the first points for the V-Hawks
- The V-Hawks took an early 10-4 lead on a Jack Hennessy three-pointer
- Colin Adams and Jack Voigt added to the scoring
- Another three for Hennessy gave the V-Hawks a 17-10 lead
- The Saints tied up the V-Hawks at 18-18, but the V-Hawks pulled away
- Scoring from Adams, Koepnick, and Voigt gave the V-Hawks a 27-21 lead
- Braden Crubel scored the final points in the half for the V-Hawks
- Out of the half, the Saints crept back within two points at 35-33
- A 10-0 run for the V-Hawks gave them the 45-33 lead
- Scoring from Landon Thousand and Jack Hennessy held the lead for the V-Hawks
- The V-Hawks won 64-53

The V-Hawks return to La Crosse on Wednesday, January 21. They will face off against the Indiana Northwest Redhawks. Tip off is set for 7:30pm CST.
