V-Hawks Finish With Draw Against Mt. Mercy

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The V-Hawks made their way to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Wednesday to face off against the Mustangs of Mount Mercy. The game was full of fierce competition, ultimately resulting in a tie score of 1-1 at the conclusion of the match.

Throughout the game, the V-Hawks took more shots than the Mustangs, out shooting them 10-4. The V-Hawks landed seven of their shots on goal, while the Mustangs landed a single shot on goal. Viterbo also took three corner kicks to Mount Mercy's one.

The game started off strong for the V-Hawks when freshman Jokubas Jancauskas scored a goal just five minutes into the game. Jancauskas' goal was assisted by Alvaro Paquete Oliveira and gave the V-Hawks an early lead. Mount Mercy responded with a goal of their own just one minute later at 6:15. This brought the score of the game to a 1-1 tie, and the game kept that score until the end.

Jancauskas made attempts to score again later in the game, taking three of the team's ten shots. Johan Hamnstrom took two shots as well during the game, with both of them landing on goal. Despite a late game shot on goal by Ronmel Alfaro, the V-Hawks couldn't grab a game-winning goal and ended in a tie for the second game in a row.
