V-Hawks Bounce Back With Win Over Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The V-Hawks traveled north on Sunday to face off against UW-Stevens Point for their final non-conference contest. Viterbo came home with a 2-1 win to finish out their non-conference schedule, finishing with only one loss before conference play begins. 

Throughout the course of the game, The V-Hawks took 21 shots to Stevens Point's 13. Eight of Viterbo's shots were on goal, while Steven's Point only landed three on goal. Jokubas Jancauskas and Andrii Ketsuk were the two scorers for the V-Hawks in their match, and Marcelo Puertas put up the lone assist. 

The V-Hawks earned their first goal just twelve minutes into the game. Stevens Point responded with a goal at 39 minutes, but the V-Hawks responded to take the lead less than one minutes later. The V-Hawks held the score at 2-1 for the remainder of the match. 

V-HAWK GOALS

  • 12' - Freshman Jokubas Jancauskas got an open look at the goal early on in the match. He scored an unassisted goal to earn his fourth goal of the season. Jancauskas now ties Eichhorn for the most goals on the team. 
  • 40' - Less than one minute after Stevens Point scored, Andrii Ketsuk scored a goal, assisted by Marcelo Puertas. This marks Ketsuk's third goal of the season and his second game in a row scoring.

The V-Hawks begin conference place on Wednesday, September 14. They will travel to Chicago to face off against Saint Xavier at 7 pm.
