LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks took to the field this weekend in La Crosse to face off against the Saints of Holy Cross. Going into the match, the Saints were undefeated in conference play, while the V-Hawks had only lost one conference match on the year. The V-Hawks were able to claim the victory and improve to 8-3-2 overall and 5-1 in CCAC competition. The Saints fall to 8-5 overall and 5-1 in the CCAC.
The match remained scoreless through the first half, though the V-Hawks were applying pressure. The V-Hawks took nine shots in the first half, while the Saints were held to only one shot. In the second half, it was the same story for most of the match. The V-Hawks held the Saints to only four shots while taking 11 of their own. Overall, the V-Hawks took 20 shots and landed eight of them on target while the Saints only had one shot land on target.
Through the second half, the game nearly remained scoreless. With a minute and 12 seconds left to play, Sebastian Acosta set up for a corner kick in an effort to win the game. The ball was kicked into play, and Joaquin Eichhorn got the ball into the back of the next on a header. The V-Hawks scored with just over a minute left in the game, and they won the hard-fought battle 1-0 on senior day.

The V-Hawks will take on the Saints of St. Francis next weekend on Saturday, October 25th. Kickoff is set for 1pm.
