V-Hawks Claim Victory, First win of 2026 Season
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawk men's team hosted the Eagles of Edgewood University on Wednesday night here in La Crosse. The V-Hawks were able to subdue the Eagles, taking home a 3-1 victory through four sets of play, and picking up their first win of the 2026 season. With the win, the V-Hawks improve to 1-9 on the season. Edgewood falls to 3-6.
Riley Connors led the V-Hawks in kills, grabbing 10 on the night. Logan Amdur and Owen Collitt each picked up eight kills as well, and Collitt swung at a 0.583 clip. From the set, Logan Amdur led the way, picking up 18 assists. He also led in digs, picking up 12 for the V-Hawks, and collecting another double-double. Max Dugan also added 11 digs for the V-Hawks. At the block, Owen Collitt added five blocks in the V-Hawk effort. Ethan Davis picked up four blocks as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks went down early to the Eagles, falling behind 10-6 early. A 4-0 run by the V-Hawks and two aces from Logan Amdur turned around the game, giving the V-Hawks the 12-11 lead. Late into the set, the V-Hawks extended their lead to two points on kills from Riley Connor and Logan Amdur. A block by RIley Connors and Owen Collitt held the lead for the V-Hawks. The V-Hawks won the first set 25-23 on a kill from Ethan Davis.
- In set two, the V-Hawks scored the first three points. Edgewood responded, going up 10-7 early in the second. As the set progressed, the V-Hawks continually remained in a three-point deficit, unable to make up what they lost early on. Edgewood eventually took the second set 25-20.
- The V-Hawks scored the first two points of the third set, but Edgewood responded with a 5-0 scoring run. A kill by Brody Dunlap cut the run short, and the V-Hawks were down 6-4. The V-Hawks took control of the set, going on a 5-0 run and collecting back-to-back blocks. The set was tied at 14-14, but the V-Hawks exploded, going on a 7-0 run and forcing the timeout by Edgewood. The V-Hawks held onto their lead, and they won set three 25-19.
- The V-Hawks took an early 6-2 lead in set four with kills by Ethan Davis, Owen Collitt, and Caleb Koza, and an ace from Max Dugan. The V-Hawks continued to build on the lead, going up 15-11. Edgewood responded, bringing it back within one point, but the V-Hawks continued to fight the Eagles off. The V-Hawks held a 23-20 lead late in the set, but three straight points from the Eagles put the set at a 23-23 tie. The V-Hawks scored on a Brody Dunlap kill followed by a Logan Amdur kill and secured the win.

The V-Hawks will return to action next week on Friday, February 20th as they travel to take on the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose in their first CCAC match of the year.
