V-Hawks come up short against Holy Cross

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The V-Hawks traveled out east this weekend to face off against the Saints of Holy Cross in their final competition of 2025. The V-Hawks came up just short, falling 78-71 in a hard-fought battle between the two. With the loss, the V-Hawks fall to 4-9 overall and 3-4 in conference action. The Saints improve to 7-6 overall and 5-2 in CCAC play. 

The V-Hawks worked to produce offensively with an evenly spread offense. Three V-Hawks scored double-digit points throughout the game. Nora Tucker led the way with 16, Lauryn Goettl added 14, and Pearla Teko-Folly added 11 points. Defensively, Pearla Teko-Folly put on a clinic, picking up 10 boards, four steals, and two blocks in her 31 minutes of play. Chloe Auth added seven rebounds and two steals to the tally as well. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first score for the V-Hawks came from Lauryn Goettl
  • The V-Hawks fell behind 10-7 early
  • Holy Cross extended the lead to 14-7
  • Scoring from Cece Davis brough the score back within three
  • A last second score from Shayna Williamson gave the V-Hawks an 18-18 tie going into the second quarter
  • Lauryn Goettl scored early to give the V-Hawks a lead
  • Pearla Teko-Folly kept it tied at 23-23
  • Four points for the Saints gave them a 29-25 lead
  • A three-pointer from Marley Hughes and a jumper from Pearla Teko-Folly gave the V-Hawks the lead
  • Scoring from Nora Tucker and Marley Hughes ended the half with a V-Hawk lead 40-37
  • Out of halftime, the Saints scored seven unanswered points
  • Despite attempts to score, the Saints extended their lead to nine points at 55-46
  • Scores from Kira John, Marley Hughes, and Shayna Williamson brought the game back within six going into the final quarter
  • Lauryn Goettl brought the score within three 
  • Scoring from Teko-Folly and Goettl secured a 62-62 tie with eight minutes remaining
  • Holy Cross took the lead back
  • Nora Tucker shortened the lead to 73-68 
  • The V-Hawks continued fighting, but eventually fell 78-71
