V-Hawks pick up Another Conference Win
WHITING, Ind. -- The V-Hawks traveled to Indiana on Saturday to face off against the Calumet Crimson Wave in their ninth CCAC competition of the year. The V-Hawks came out victorious, defeating the Crimson Wave soundly 67-44. With the win, the V-Hawks move to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in CCAC competition. The Crimson Wave fall to 4-9 overall and 1-7 in CCAC play.
Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Marley Hughes. Hughes added 12 points for the V-Hawks, and she picked up three assists as well. Gina Stefferud added nine points as well, going 4-4 from the field. Defensively, Pearla Teko-Folly led the charge, grabbing eight rebounds for the V-Hawks. Lauryn Goettl added seven rebounds to the tally as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Pearla Teko-Folly scored first for the V-Hawks
- The V-Hawks took an early 9-4 lead over the Crimson Wave
- A 7-0 lead by the V-Hawks gave them the 16-6 lead
- Shayna Williamson scored the final two points for the V-Hawks in the quarter, going up 23-10 after one quarter
- The V-Hawks held their lead with early scoring from Lauryn Goettl and Carly Drew
- The Crimson Wave attempted to creep back in to the game
- Three points from Teko-Folly to close the half gave the V-Hawks a 36-24 lead
- Out of the half, Lauryn Goettl scored quick
- A pair of free throws and a layup from Kira John gave the V-Hawks a 14 point lead
- Back-to-back three pointers from Cece Davis and Shayna Williamson extended the V-Hawk lead to 20 at the end of the third
- Gina Stefferud scored first in the fourth quarter
- The V-Hawks continued extending their lead with scoring from Gina Stefferud, Marley Hughes, and Ashlee Nicolai
- Stefferud scored the final points of the game, and the V-Hawks won 67-44

The V-Hawks will return to the court on Wednesday, January 21. They will face off against Indiana Northwest in La Crosse. Tip off is set for 5:30pm.
