V-Hawks Drop to Titans on the Road, Led by Carly Drew
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The V-Hawk women traveled to South Bend, Indiana to face off against the Titans of Indiana University South Bend. Despite their efforts, and three V-Hawks scoring in double digits, the team came up short, falling to the Titans 95-84. The V-Hawks drop to 12-13 overall and 10-8 in CCAC play. The Titans improve to 18-7 overall and 13-4 in the conference.
Offensively, the V-Hawks were producing. Carly Drew led the way with an impressive 28 points on 10-16 shooting from the field (4-8 from three). Marley Hughes and Shayna Williamson each added 14 points for the V-Hawks, while Nora Tucker brought in 10 points. Defensively, the V-Hawks were led by Pearla Teko-Folly. Pearla grabbed eight rebounds and added a steal and a block as well. Carly Drew and Chloe Auth each added six rebounds to the V-Hawk effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks struggled early, going down 8-0
- Marley Hughes opened V-Hawk scoring with a three
- The Titans continued to respond, going up 17-9 over the V-Hawks
- Scoring from Shayna Williamson brought the V-Hawks within six
- Late scoring from Nora Tucker and Carly Drew brought the V-Hawks to a three point deficit going into the second
- Two free throws from Aubrey Dorn in the second quarter gave the V-Hawk a 38-38 tie for the first time
- The Titans went on a 12-0 run
- The V-Hawks were down 52-40 going into halftime
- Out of the half, the Titans continued scoring, but the V-Hawks were responding
- The V-Hawks were down 77-61 going into the fourth
- A three from Shayna Williamson brought the V-Hawks back within nine points at 86-77
- The V-Hawks continued to fight, but the deficit was too much
- The V-Hawks fell to the Titans 95-84 through four quarters

The V-Hawks will return home to La Crosse this Wednesday, February 18. They will be competing against the Cougars of Saint Xavier with a tip off set for 5:30PM.
