LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks dropped their second match of the season 3-0 against St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon. Throughout the match, Viterbo took 12 shots, landing seven of them on goal.
The team was led by freshman Paxten Bristol who took three shots and landed all three of them on goal. Senior Kelcie Karweick also took three shots with two of them being on goal. Defensively, Madison Zilm recorded 12 saves during the game.
In the first half of the game, the score remained at 0-0. The match was back-and-forth between the two teams, with Viterbo taking eight shots to St. Thomas' six.
The V-Hawks had an opportunity to score at 22' when Kelcie Karweick took a shot that was saved by the St. Thomas goalkeeper. Again at 23' the V-Hawks took a shot, this time by Paxten Bristol, but it was stopped again at the goal. The first half ended with a free kick by Hadley Dammer that landed on goal but was stopped by the goalkeeper.
Going into the second half, an even match had been played. By 46' the Bobcats of St. Thomas took three shots and by 69' they had taken four corner kicks.
Madison Zilm recorded seven saves in the first 25 minutes of the second half before the Bobcats snuck one through at 77'. They then scored again at 83' and 86'.
The V-Hawks continued to fight until the end, but ultimately lost to the Bobcats in a late game run.
