V-Hawks dominate Blue Angels, Improve to 6-0 in CCAC

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks continued their conference run with a match against Mount Mary on Wednesday. This matchup was the first between the V-Hawks and Mount Mary as the Blue Angels joined the CCAC in the 2025-26 season. Viterbo dominated in a 3-0 sweep, improving to 12-5 overall and 6-0 in the CCAC. Mount Mary fell to 3-17 overall and 1-6 in conference competition. 

The V-Hawks were led by Jada Mitchell's dominant performance. Mitchell led the team with 10 kills and a 0.667 hitting percentage. She also led the way in blocks with three. Jaden Polovina recorded the highest amount of assists for the team with 20 and Izzy Jahr led in aces with three. Resse Germann led in digs with six. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first set started off with a close fight. The V-Hawks continued to hold the lead until they went down at 8-9. Back-to-back kills from Jada Mitchell brought the lead back to the V-Hawks. Those kills stirred some momentum for the V-Hawks as they went on a 9-3 run with Mikaela Marquardt dropping in an ace. The V-Hawks never let off the pedal and won the set on a Hailee Halverson kill 25-17. 
  • The V-Hawks opened with a strong run in the second set, marked by an ace from Maddie Connor and back-to-back kills from Sadie Treptow. The V-Hawks continued and extended their lead with three kills from Izzy Jahr and another from Jalen Hinzman to take the 13-4 lead. Shortly after, the V-Hawks went on a 9-0 run to hold a 22-6 lead marked by three aces from Izzy Jahr and a kill from Casey Frankland. The V-Hawks won set two 25-9. 
  • Casey Frankland scored the first point in the third set on a kill from Maddie Connor. The V-Hawks held a steady lead early in the set with two kills from Mia Quist. Viterbo extended their lead over the Blue Angels going up 13-6. Another 5-0 run from the V-Hawks put them up 18-8 and forced a timeout from Mount Mary. Out of the timeout, the V-Hawks continued their run, scoring seven straight points to close the set with a 25-8 win.

The V-Hawks will return to conference play next Tuesday, September 30. They will host Olivet Nazarene at home at 6pm.
