V-Hawks pick up 12th straight conference win

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks hosted the Eagles of Judson on Tuesday night for another CCAC competition. Viterbo had a strong performance, sweeping the Eagles in straight sets. The V-Hawks improve to 18-6 overall and 12-0 in CCAC play, while the Eagles fall to 6-11 and 4-9 in conference competitions. 

The V-Hawks were led by the strong performance from Jada Mitchell. Jada's seven kills were the most on the team. Maddie Connor had the most assists for the team last night with 19, and defensively Resse Germann picked up 10 digs while Jada Mitchell and Sadie Treptow each added three blocks. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The V-Hawks scored the first point of the game on a kill from Hailee Halverson. Early in the first set, the V-Hawks went up 9-4 with an ace from Mia Quist. The V-Hawks went on another short run to force a timeout by Judson. Out of the timeout, the V-Hawks picked up kills from Sadie Treptow, Izzy Jahr, and Jada Mitchell to go up 17-6. Four more points for the V-Hawks with a block and a kill by Sadie Treptow put the V-Hawks up 21-8. The V-Hawks won set one 25-12. 
  • The V-Hawks opened set two on a 3-0 run with an ace from Maddie Connor. Kills by Jada Mitchell and Sadie Treptow continued to grow the lead. The set remained close at 14-12 when the Eagles earned an ace to bring the set within one. With Resse Germann behind the service line, the V-Hawks went on a 6-0 run. During their run, Germann picked up an ace and Izzy Jahr added a kill. Kills by MaKena Ihle and Izzy Jahr added to the lead and the V-Hawks went up 23-14. The V-Hawks won set two 25-17. 
  • The V-Hawks went up early in the third set with kills by Hailee Halverson, Jada Mitchell, and Sadie Treptow, as well as an ace by Mikaela Marquardt. Some errors by the Eagles added to the V-Hawks lead. Addison Pecha went behind the service line in the middle of the set and collected two aces. The V-Hawks took a 13-5 lead with kills by Jalen Hinzman and Jada Mitchell. At 14-6, the V-Hawks went on a 5-0 run with two kills from Mia Quist. A third from Mia Quist came moments later, followed by kills from Casey Frankland and Aubrey Dorn. The V-Hawks won the third set 25-10.

The V-Hawks will take on the Crimson Wave of Calumet on October 23 here in La Crosse. The game is set to begin at 7pm.
