V-Hawks Defeat Trolls, Head to CCAC Championship
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks took to their home court on Thursday night to face off against Trinity Christian in the CCAC Semifinal Matchup. Going into the match, the V-Hawks held the #1 seed, while the Trolls of Trinity Christian were a strong #4 seed. The V-Hawks defeated the Trolls 3-1 and improve to 26-6 overall. The Trolls end their season 14-16 overall.
The V-Hawks were led offensively by Hailee Halverson's 12 kills. Shortly behind Halverson were Izzy Jahr and Sadie Treptow, each with 11 kills. Jaden Polovina led in assists with 23, while Mia Quist led at the service line with four aces. Defensively, Resse Germann picked up 16 digs in the back court, while Jada Mitchell added an impressive nine blocks in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks went up early in the first set, taking the 7-6 lead over the Trolls. They extended on their lead with back-to-back kills from Hailee Halverson in the middle of the set, followed by a Mia Quist ace. The V-Hawks continued their run with a kill by MaKena Ihle. A block by Jada Mitchell sealed the first set 25-16.
- The V-Hawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead in set two with blocks from Sadie Treptow and Jada Mitchell. Maddie Connor added a service ace, breaking the all-time career aces record at Viterbo. The V-Hawks extended their lead with two kills from Hailee Halverson and a kill from Izzy Jahr. Back-to-back kills from Mia Quist extended the lead to 15-5 late in the set. The V-Hawks continued extending their lead with a kill from Jalen Hinzman, and the V-Hawks won set two 25-13.
- The V-Hawks struggled early in the third set, but gained a lead at 12-9. The V-Hawks held the lead with a Jaden Polovina ace, but Trinity Christian continued to fight back in. Izzy Jahr grabbed an ace to hold a two point lead at 19-17. Trinity went on a 4-0 run to take the 21-19 lead. The V-Hawks scored on three more kills from Hailee Halverson, but the V-Hawks fell in set three 25-22.
- In set four, the V-Hawks scored the first point. They took an early lead at 9-7 with a block from Jada Mitchell and Hailee Halverson. The V-Hawks continued to extend their lead, and they held a two point edge over the Trolls at 19-17. The Trolls took the 10-19, but the V-Hawks tied it up again at 20-20 with a kill from Jada Mitchell. Another Mitchell kill followed by a Jahr kill forced the Trinity Christian timeout. Out of the timeout, the Trolls were able to fight back to a 24-24 tie. The V-Hawks finished the game on a kill from Izzy Jahr and a block from Jalen Hinzman and MaKena Ihle to finish the set, and the match, 26-24.

The V-Hawks face off in the CCAC Championship Match on Saturday, November 15. The match is slated to start at 1pm vs the Saint Xavier Cougars here in La Crosse.
