V-Hawks place fifth at CCAC Championships

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The V-Hawks competed in the CCAC Cross Country Championships this Saturday against eight other conference foes. Following the 6k race, the V-Hawks finished in fifth place out of the nine teams. They defeated St. Xavier, Trinity Christian, Indiana Northwest, and Mount Mary in their competition. 

The team was led by sophomore Samantha Berndt, who ran a 24:23.13, defeating her personal best that she set just weeks ago. Closely behind her was Ilie Jensen with a 24:36.56 finish. Ilie's race time was her best this year. Both Berndt and Jensen finished in the top-30. Hannah Butler came in next with a 25:43.79 followed by AJ Murphy with a 25:58.86. Casey Reynolds and Grace Wamre came in right next to each other with 51st and 52nd place, respectively. Jill Chovan, Lydia Zapuchlak, and Lily Peterson were the next three in for the V-Hawks. The team rounded out their competition with Bernadette Frisch, Kaitlyn Wrage, Julie Woodman, and Olivia Cox. 

The team finishes their season with this meet.
