V-Hawks Continue Unbeaten Streak in Sunday Victory

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks took to the field on Sunday afternoon to face off against the Carleton College Knights. With a late-game goal by Joaquin Eichhorn, the V-Hawks continue their unbeaten streak heading into this week's match. Viterbo defeated Carleton 2-1 after 90 minutes with goals by Joaquin Eichhorn and Ronmel Alfaro

The V-Hawks came into the game aggressive, taking two shots within the first minute of the game, with one of them being on target. The Knights of Carleton had three corner kick opportunities in the first half, but the V-Hawks defense held them off on all three attempts. Throughout the match, Viterbo took 13 shots to Carleton's 6. 

Viterbo had the first score of the game, coming at 52 minutes, but Carleton responded just 11 minutes later to tie the game. The V-Hawks were able to break away late in the second half to score with only eight minutes left. Carleton took one last shot at 86 minutes, hitting the crossbar of the goal. The V-Hawks held the Knights off defensively for the remainder of the game. 

V-HAWK GOALS

  • 52' - Ronmel Alfaro got a wide open look at the goal after bypassing the goalie. He kicked it straight into the net, and Alfaro earned his first goal of his career. 
  • 81' - Joaquin Eichhorn scored the late game-winning goal for the V-Hawks. His goal was assisted by Sebastian Acosta, and it marks the fourth goal of the season for Eichhorn.
