LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks competed against the Upper Iowa Peacocks on Thursday afternoon, falling to the Peacocks in heartbreaking fashion. The V-Hawks lost 3-1, however they held the lead for most of the match. Through the first half of the game, Viterbo had a 1-0 lead after a goal by Andrii Ketsuk just 13 minutes into the game.
The V-Hawks held strong in the first half, taking only four shots to Upper Iowa's nine. Defensively, the V-Hawks had seven saves in the first half to hold strong to the lead. Going into the second half, Viterbo continued to push against Upper Iowa, keeping the lead until the 77th minute. At 77', Upper Iowa scored their first goal of the game, tying the score at 1-1. Shortly after at 83', Upper Iowa scored again to take the lead. A late shot by Jokubas Jancauskas was missed just high for the V-Hawks. Upper Iowa scored once more at 89' to defeat Viterbo 3-1.
V-HAWK SCORING
- 13' - Sophomore defender Andrii Ketsuk got an open look at the goal from a distance and took the long shot. The ball went just over the Peacock goalkeeper and into the net.

The V-Hawks will travel to UW-Stevens Point on September 14th. Viterbo opens conference play after that on September 24 when they travel to Chicago to face off against Saint Xavier.
