V-Hawks Dominate against Eagles at Home

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks hosted the Eagles of Judson on Saturday in their third CCAC game of the year. The V-Hawks defeated the Eagles by twenty points, with an all-around effort. The final score was 77-57 in favor of the V-Hawks. The team improves to 2-6 on the year and 2-1 in CCAC play. The Eagles fall to 3-3 and 1-2 in CCAC play. 

Offensively, Carly Drew led the way for the V-Hawks, picking up 15 points in her efforts. Lauryn Goettl added nine points and Abby Ward picked up eight. Defensively, Lauryn Goettl led the way with eight rebounds. Pearla Teko-Folly picked up two blocks and Cece Davis added two steals as well. As a team, the V-Hawks got 32 rebounds to the Eagles' 26. The V-Hawks also shot at a higher clip from all locations on the court. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The V-Hawks jumped out to an early 9-3 lead with scores from Carly Drew, Pearla Teko-Folly, and Lauryn Goettl
  • Marley Hughes extended the lead for the V-Hawks, going up 14-6. 
  • The Eagles worked back to 14-14.
  • The Eagles held a 19-17 lead going into the second quarter. 
  • Scoring from Kira John and Carly Drew game the V-Hawks the 22-21 lead.
  • The Eagles kept it close, taking the lead back a couple times early in the second quarter. 
  • The V-Hawks closed the second quarter on a 15-0 run with back to back layups from Chloe Auth late in the quarter. 
  • Out of halftime, Kira John scored first to continue extending the V-Hawks lead. 
  • A three pointer from Carly Drew put the V-Hawks up nearly 20 points at 48-29. 
  • A two-minute scoring drough for both teams ended when Abby Ward earned a three pointer to take the 51-29 lead. 
  • The V-Hawks closed the third quarter on a jumper from Shayna Williamson to secure a 64-37 lead. 
  • The first points for the V-Hawks in the fourth quarter came from Ashlee Williamson
  • Genna Gretzlock contributed towards the V-Hawk scoring efforts. 
  • Ashlee Nicolai added four points late in the quarter. 
  • The V-Hawks' final score came from a Taylor Jacobson layup to win the game 77-57.

UP NEXT

The V-Hawks will travel to Iowa on Tuesday to face off against the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose. Tip off is set for 5:30pm.
