V-Hawks win on the road to close out CCAC play
EAST CHICAGO, Ind. -- The V-Hawks traveled to face off against the Redhawks of Indiana Northwest on Wednesday evening in Indiana. Through 90 minutes of play, the V-Hawks scored three goals to defeat the Redhawks. The V-Hawks improve to 8-6 overall and 7-5 in CCAC play, while the Redhawks fall to 5-4-9 and 3-3-6 in CCAC play. This match marks the final regular season competition for both teams.
With the V-Hawks win last night, they finish with a 0.583 win percentage in the conference, their highest since joining the CCAC. The V-Hawks picked up the 3-2 win last night despite taking only nine shots. Of the nine, three were on goal. The Redhawks took 10 shots, landing five of them on goal, and scoring on two. Defensively, Erin Brooks picked up three saves throughout the match, while the Redhawks posted zero saves.
The game started off with a couple of shots by Viterbo, both off goal. The Redhawks were the first to get on the board with a goal in the 19th minute. The V-Hawks began fighting back with a shot by Alex Little and a shot by Paxten Bristol. In the 35th minute, Casey Hill got the ball in from Brynlee Kelly to score the first of the game for the V-Hawks. Just five minutes later, the V-Hawks scored again, this time off of Elle Hager, assisted by Brynlee Kelly again. The V-Hawks went into halftime with the 2-1 lead.
Out of the half, Indiana Northwest got some early shots. The first shot for the V-Hawks in the second half didn't come until the 73rd minute. This shot resulted in a goal by Alex Little, assisted yet again by the freshman Brynlee Kelly. Indiana Northwest continued to fight back, scoring a goal in the 79th minute, but the V-Hawks were able to fight them off for the remaining 11 minutes. The V-Hawks finished with a 3-2 victory.

The V-Hawks will compete in the CCAC Tournament. Pairings will be announced at a later date. Quarterfinals are set to open on November 4th.
