V-Hawks sweep Titans

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks continued their CCAC win-streak on Saturday as they hosted Indiana South Bend. The V-Hawks defeated the Titans in a sweep and improve their record to 14-5 (8-0 CCAC). 

The V-Hawks were led by Jada Mitchell's 11 kills throughout the match. Jalen Hinzman led in hitting percentage with 0.600 on seven kills. Sadie Treptow was the front-line defensive leader with seven blocks, while Resse Germann picked up the back court defensive effort with 16 digs. Jaden Polovina led in assists with 24. Maddie Connor led in aces with two. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Set one opened on a Hailee Halverson kill. The V-Hawks played strong early on, going on a 7-1 run with kills from Hailee Halverson, Jada Mitchell, and MaKena Ihle. The V-Hawks never let up in the first set, continuing to extend their lead and go on a series of runs. A kill by Jalen Hinzman sealed set one 25-13. 
• The V-Hawks found themselves down early at 7-4 in the second set. At 11-6, the V-Hawks flipped the game, going on an 8-0 run with kills from Jada Mitchell and Hailee Halverson. The V-Hawks took the 13-11 lead. The set remained close, but the V-Hawks took the lead at 18-17 once again. A 20-20 tie happened late in the set, but the V-Hawks continued to earn the one-point edge. A kill and a block from Jada Mitchell and Sadie Treptow finished set two in favor of the V-Hawks 26-24. 
• The V-Hawks opened set three on a 3-0 run with a kill by Hailee Halverson. Viterbo continued putting together several small runs, and Mia Quist picked up an ace to go up 12-7. The Titans attempted to fight back, but a kill from Izzy Jahr and a block from Aubrey Dorn and Izzy Jahr put the V-Hawks up 21-12 late in the third set. Kills from Aubrey Dorn and Isabel Rubenzer brought the set nearer to a finish, but a deafening block from Sadie Treptow and Jada Mitchell sealed the set, and the match, 25-15.
