V-Hawks Dominate in CCAC Win
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks played strong in their Thursday night matchup as they took to the court against Calumet. The V-Hawks swept the Crimson Wave, improving to 19-6 on the season and completing their 13th straight conference win to remain undefeated in the CCAC. The Crimson Wave fall to 2-20 overall and 1-13 in CCAC play.
The V-Hawks were led last night by Jada Mitchell's seven kills and five blocks. Defensively, the V-Hawks were led by Resse Germann's 14 digs in the back court. Jaden Polovina led the way for assists with 15. In the aces category, Mia Quist led with an impressive five aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks jumped out early with a kill by Jada Mitchell to open the set. The Crimson Wave kept the set close, being just one point behind at 8-7. The V-Hawks pulled away at 13-9 on a block from Sadie Treptow and Jada Mitchell. In the back half of the match, the V-Hawks continued to improve on their lead with kills from MaKena Ihle, Jalen Hinzman, and Hailee Halverson. The V-Hawks won set one 25-15.
- With Maddie Connor behind the service line, the V-Hawks went up 6-0 early in the second. Maddie Connor picked up an ace during her run. The V-Hawks continued to extend their lead, going up 15-4 in the set. A Mia Quist ace brought the lead up even further to 18-5. A kill by Isabel Rubenzer finished the set 25-8 in favor of the V-Hawks.
- Back-to-back Maddie Connor aces opened up the third set, followed by two aces from Mia Quist as well. The V-Hawks continued to dominate the service line with an ace by Resse Germann and three from Casey Frankland. Three kills by Aubrey Dorn brought the V-Hawks to a 19-4 lead late in the set. Makenna Rettler picked up an ace late in the set, and a kill by Mia Quist sealed the match 25-9.
